JOB DESCRIPTION
Project Description &amp; Tasks

 

Hardware Planners needed for various raised floor projects in Richmond VA, 

including preparing raised floor (space, power, cabling) for new storage racks and hardware refresh.  

Proper cable techniques and cable testing in patch panels and server hardware.     

 

Special Skill Requirements

Infrastructure roll.  Strong knowledge and experience with sub-floor cabling, including physical layer cabling 

- specifically in fiber optic cabling; performing cable changes at fiber patch panels as well at servers; experience with an 

industry standard cable tester, as well as troubleshoot/correct cable problems in support of cable change activity.  

Knowledge of various hardware devices (servers, storage &amp; network).  

Knowledge of hardware power requirements, space requirements and cooling needs for such hardware is a plus Change Management;  

able to work in a team environment with hardware vendors, application owners, SSRs CEs and Site Facilities teams;  

Overall Data Center knowledge

Comments: Changes will need to be performed off-shift during customer established change windows.  

Although server, storage &amp; network knowledge a plus, this is an infrastructure role, not a Systems 

Administrator role.  It has an on-site requirement in the customer's data center.  The customer is a 

regulated account (HIPAA) so I am sure a background check will be requested.  There will be on-line HIPAA 

training provided with necessary sign-off requirements.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

*        3 (+) years of consistent experience as a Marine Electrician and proven leadership ability

*        Able to provide own hand tools.

*        Experience validating dimensions on drawings, determine deck and bulkhead materials, and determine best removal and installation route during a ship checks.

*        Experience using meters and other devices to connect, troubleshoot, and operate electrical equipment.

*        Experience performing alignments.  

*       Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.

*       Knowledgeable and trained in safe work practices.

*        Provide status reports of team activities against the program plan or schedule.

*        Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams.

*        Perform first pass QA of electrical installs to include but not confined to cable ring outs, connector fabrication, proper terminations, cable tags, wire banding per QA documents
