The Oracle Development Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for providing focused support to a key SEC business unit.  The DBA will assist the business unit representative with the development, tuning, optimization and troubleshooting of SQL and PL/SQL routines that are used to perform regular loads of large data sets using SQL*Loader to an Oracle 11g database.
 
The DBA will also work as part of a matrixed team of Oracle DBAs who deliver operational support for some 20+ production databases. Operational responsibilities will include performing database installation, patching, upgrade and migration as necessary; analyzing performance issues and providing recommendations based on testing results; proactively diagnosing and resolving problems affecting database; maintaining database configurations in compliance with release management and change management; participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years of proven experience as a database administrator, with at least 8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
• Experience working with Oracle 11g RAC on Linux with ASM, Monitoring table space, ASM Disk Space usage.
• Experience working with regular DBA activities like installing Oracle 12c/11g software, Database creation, patching and upgrades.
• Creating User accounts, Roles, granting privileges and resolving Security vulnerabilities.
• Expertise writing complex SQL statements and tuning existing SQL statements for performance and scalability.
• Experience developing SQL*loader Data loading/unloading scripts, stored procedures that process and modify existing data.
• Creating database jobs to execute ad-hoc PL/ SQL as well as procedures used to validate data, modify data, or gather table and index statistics at regular intervals.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting SQL*Loader/PL/SQL Data Loads for Performance, Coding and Infrastructure issues.
• Experience with UNIX shell scripting for automating regular data loading and other database maintenance activities.
• Experience working in Oracle environment on Red Hat Linux platform.
• Critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address complex issues involving data movement and data replication.
• Proven ability to resolve architectural issues in the environment and database infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and the application functionality.
• Strong hands-on Experience with the Oracle RMAN Backup and Restore, Export and Import Data Pump utilities.
• Experience working with Oracle 12c OEM for database monitoring.
 
Candidate must be able to obtain a moderate risk Federal public trust clearance. The public trust clearance process authorizes the Federal government to perform background investigation for identifying negative criminal, medical, and financial findings. It should be understood that if an offer for employment is accepted that continued employment in the position is contingent upon obtaining the clearance.
 
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Oracle 11g/10g RAC (Real Application Clusters), SCAN (Single Client Access Name) and TAF (Transparent Application Failover) Methodologies, Recovery Manager (RMAN) including Flashback Retention/Recovery technology, Advanced Security (TDE/Network Encryption), Data Guard (broker configurations), Oracle 12c/11g Cloud Control/OEM/Grid Control and Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
 
DEGREE/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree and 10+ years of directly related computer  business systems analysis and/or programming experience
 
CERTIFICATIONS: Oracle 11g or 12c Certified Professional (preferred).
 
WORK LOCATION:  SEC’s Washington DC headquarters (Union Station); possibility of telework up to three days per week after 90 days.
