Data Analyst Job in San Francisco, CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary roles of the Data Analyst fall into two broad categories:
1. Reporting and analytics
• Query databases to create daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting for internal and external clients
• Deliver contractual reporting requirements in adherence to the outlined schedule, format and delivery method
• Provide ad hoc reports based on client and internal business needs while meeting an agreed upon deadline in order to set clear expectations
• Offer consultation to program management team during the launch of a program regarding capabilities of reporting in order to provide client with pertinent ongoing data
• Analyze data to ensure accurate data is being presented to internal and external teams
• Filter and “clean” data for client delivery by locating and correcting coding problems
• Identify new process improvement opportunities to improve data quality with the operational teams
• Formats visual output of data analysis for internal/external customer review
• Create self-service reporting tools for business unit leadership and program management
2. Tracking business unit performance
• Interpret data, analyze results to proactively provide performance feedback to business units within the organization
• Prepare quarterly business reviews for clients
• Understand business unit workflow to find opportunities to improve the collection of data so that internal groups are not negatively impacted with additional steps and can better serve the needs of patients and clients
• Troubleshoot with internal groups if accurate data is not being collected or captured
• Collaborate with the strategic informatics group and program management team to develop reporting tools
• Lead ongoing analysis and reporting related to business unit performance recommended courses of action
• Assist in automating day to day responsibilities of groups across the organization so that efficiencies are achieved
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in applicable field, computer science, business, or equivalent experience related to healthcare operations
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with multiple internal and external audiences
• 1-3 years of previous experience in healthcare preferred
• Database query language experience (simple and complex queries)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SQL and T-SQL
• Math and statistics knowledge background
• Exceptional communication skills and keen attention to detail
• Experience working with internal and external customers
• Demonstrated strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
